Hi, I’m Chris.

I am Chris Vandivort, a physician based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I spent years working night shifts in the emergency room. I saw what happens when health falls apart, and I saw it over and over again. I kept thinking the same thing: why are we waiting for people to break before we help them?

And yet, I was not walking the walk myself. I could debate fasting protocols with anyone, but I was overweight. I had read everything but failed to live anything. I was deep in the optimization weeds. But I did not have the body or the energy or the life I wanted.

I went back to first principles. I re-analyzed the literature. I let go of what I thought I knew, what I thought was optimal, what I thought mattered. I thought long and hard about how to optimize not just for health and longevity, but also for performance and vitality.

And I asked the question nobody in the optimization space seems to ask: how does this actually fit into real life? The one with the career, the relationships, the Friday nights.

Everything changed.

Since then, I have never been happier, felt better, or been healthier.

I left the ER to build this.

A practice that meets people before they end up in the ER. A practice for people who want what I want: to feel and perform at their peak, and to sustain that peak for decades.

I have strong opinions. I think evolutionary biology is the start, but we can improve on it with targeted pharmacotherapy. I think the Zone 2 obsession is overblown. I think most supplement stacks are expensive placebos. I think Bryan Johnson is a cautionary tale, not a model. I think the medical system is failing the people who need it most. And I think the fundamentals, done well and done consistently, will outperform any protocol on the planet.

I also think your health should serve your life, not become it. I want to live a full tilt, vibrant life and perform at my peak. But I would not take an extra decade if it meant living like a monk. I have a cheeseburger and beer on Friday nights. I believe in play, in awe, in being genuinely present with the people I love.

The goal is not to live forever in shades of grey. It is to build a life worth the decades we are fighting for.
